The Wave Project improves the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people through surf therapy and the healing powers of the ocean and other blue spaces.
- Its 6 week Surf Therapy course, follow-on Surf Club programme and progression to volunteering as a Surf mentor support young people to overcome anxiety, low confidence or difficulties with emotional regulation.
- From its origins in Cornwall, it now operates in 17 locations across the UK and supports over 2,500 young people per year.
- Its scalable model is backed by volunteers who give 37,000 of free support a year.
- Chimo has funded The Wave Project for five years.
My son spent a lot of time locked away in his room and then I found some suicide notes and I couldn’t think how to help him. And then we found the Wave Project. I couldn’t believe how they went out of their way to help. They have shown him there is light at the end of tunnel and you can be resilient.
