Chill runs sea immersion courses as a form of therapy aimed at improving people’s mental and physical wellbeing.
- There is growing evidence that access to the natural environmen is linked to improved mental health outcomes with people participating in open water swimming noting a marked improvement in their mental health.
- From its origins in North Devon, Chill’s open water courses are now offered in 12 hubs across the country.
- Chimo is funding a pilot scheme in North Devon specifically targeting young people aged 11-18, struggling with poor mental health.
- If successful, the objective is to expand this programme to other Chill hubs.
Chill has had a huge impact on patients and the wider community. It has brought people together and empowered them to do something they never would have felt able to do before. Seeing the mental health benefits has been fantastic and I am really impressed with what Chill has achieved. I look forward to seeing it continue to build momentum and eventually I hope it will become accessible to everyone.
